While Alyssa and Daniel have attended the Heights church together for 7 years, their social groups didn’t merge until 2019 when everyone was social distancing and the way to stay in touch with friends was via Among Us. Over the next several years, they would go from “the roommate of a girl my friend used to date” to being in the same social circle to friends. In July of 2022, Daniel hosted a Pride and Prejudice movie night at his apartment. Afterwards, Daniel, Alyssa, and a mutual friend realized they would all be turning 25 that coming September and decided to cohost a birthday party. As planning and prepping went on the mutual friend became less available, leaving space for Alyssa and Daniel to get to know each other better. Several evenings of planning, a morning of estate sale shopping, and a full day of prep later, the party was a smash hit and Daniel had fallen hard. 11 months later, Daniel picked Alyssa up for a date which began with the restaurant from their first date (and stayed talking at until the restaurant closed) and ended at the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens where he had staged a beautiful proposal, filled with sentiment and thoughtful intention.
