Crossing the border

The most common way to travel is by driving down and crossing at the San Ydidro Border or the Tecate Border. Pedestrians crossing into Tijuana at the San Ysidro crossing need to complete a Mexico Visitor's Permit (FMM ‒ FREE if the trip is 7 days or less) and present a passport. You can also complete this form online.

For those flying in from outside of California, you can fly into Tijuana International Airport (TIJ) if you want to touchdown in Mexico. If you prefer to touchdown on the US side, you can fly into San Diego International Airport (SAN).
