About this venue

One of the most historic and romantic locations in Chicagoland! A true hidden gem! For more than a century, the Winnetka Community House has been playing host to some of the most beautiful events and weddings on the North Shore. Within the lovely grounds of the Community House, the Historic Garden provides a timeless setting for a magical wedding ceremony or an alfresco dinner. The blue stone and brick patio is framed by architectural brick columns, a Tudor style barn building, a charming pergola, and an iconic gothic wooden frame breezeway. Our indoor Garden Room features plenty of natural light, beautiful woodwork, ambient lighting, and offers a wide view of our beautifully landscaped garden through a wall of French doors.

Historic Garden Courtyard & Garden Room

From the bright blooms of spring to the deep colors of autumn, the seasonal beauty of the garden is the perfect backdrop for your perfect day.

The beautifully landscaped Historic Gardens comfortably seat 150 for a dinner, or 200 for a ceremony. The nearby Garden Room is an ideal spot for dinner, dancing, and celebrating and accommodates 75 to 200 guests with an option to divide the space for smaller events. Special features include fine woodwork, natural light from the wall of south-facing windows and 4 sets of French doors for a front seat view of the historic Garden Courtyard.

Yes, Free parking is readily available to guests. The village lot is located directly off our garden entrance.

Yes, you may provide your own alcohol to be served by your caterer.

All rentals include exclusive use of both indoor and outdoor spaces as well as tables, chairs, a dancefloor if needed, plenty of free parking for your guests, and all-day use of a getting ready/bridal suite room.

Event duration is 5 hours (6 if you are also adding a ceremony) and vendors may have access 2 hours prior to the event to set up and 1 hour at the conclusion of the event for strike. Additional hours may be purchased for $200 each.

The Community House partners with 6 full-service caterers that provide many options for several types and styles of events. We also have 3 specialty ethnic caterers available as well. If you choose to bring in your own caterer an additional $2000 off list fee will apply and the caterer must be approved by the Community House prior to signing a contract.
