About this venue

Construction on Powerhouse began in 1915 as part of an expansion project by the D.C. Paper Manufacturing Company. In 1917, the building began operating as a power plant for the paper company. Just a few short years later in 1919, Capitol Traction Company purchased Powerhouse to use as trolley car storage until 1932. In more recent years, Powerhouse has been used for event and office space. Today, the iconic smokestack still stands 150 feet above the building, symbolizing its towering impact on the history and culture of Georgetown.

With a newly renovated interior and modern, industrial features, Powerhouse offers a venue with history and character. Two floors of event space, totaling over 6,000 square feet, with a mezzanine overlooking a ground floor. Located between the Georgetown Waterfront Park and the famous M Street shopping corridor next to a large, outdoor courtyard.
