Mountain Shadows Retreat is the ultimate ANTI-VENUE for the modern couple that doesn't want to be told what they have to do. You are renting a private retreat in the mountains and hosting your friends and family however you want. Located on three private acres overlooking the American River Canyon. Featuring a luxury interior and breathtaking views, we provide the perfect backdrop for your wedding weekend. A stunning private venue, Mountain Shadows offers you and your loved ones a chance to unwind, connect, and experience inspiration in nature. All events are custom-tailored to meet your specific goals and desires; if you can dream it, we can make it happen. Every group is different. All wedding packages include lodging 15-25 guests on-site and 50+ additional guests at Miner's Camp, our sister property that is located walking distance. If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind wedding experience, Mountain Shadows can help design an unforgettable experience for your special day.

Shadow's groups eat whatever they want, drink whatever they want, and host their friends and family however they want. Shadow's does not do food, beverage, or rentals. It's all about spending quality time with friends and family. NOT the in and out experience. The Anti Venue experience.

Mountain Shadows Retreat (The Anti-Venue) seems to be the perfect wedding venue for us. From our first inquiry, the team was prompt and friendly in their communication, making the planning process a breeze. While viewing the property before booking, it felt both homey and elegant, with an open and spacious layout that will allow our guests to mingle comfortably. The natural decor and beautiful mountain views creates a truly serene and intimate atmosphere. We can’t wait for our 4 day wedding!

Mountain Shadows is an incredible spot for any type of event - wedding, family/friends party, corporate gathering, the list goes on! We loved visiting the mountains, experiencing the fresh air, and having the whole property to ourselves. Booking was easy and the whole process was smooth. Mountain Shadows Retreat (The Anti-Venue) has been an absolute dream to work with for our wedding! From the moment we reached out, their team was incredibly responsive, friendly, and easy to talk to. Unlike any other venue I've been to, the Mountain Shadows team went above and beyond to ensure our special day will be perfect. We get married in 2025 and they are very flexible with us visiting the venue beforehand to ensure we were ready to go by wedding day. The team is a true pleasure to work with, and we can't wait to celebrate our marriage at this one-of-a-kind venue next year. Highly recommend to any couple looking for a unique and personalized wedding experience!
