About this venue

After decades of rest, the great hall of Sts. Peter & Paul has been lovingly restored with carfeul attention. Built in 1861, every pane of stained glass is infused with history and every brick with stores of days past. The reverberant and resonant hall is located squarely in the Faubourg Marigny, the city's eclectic hub for art, cuisine, and entertainment and only a short walk (or second line) from Frenchmen Street and the French Quarter. The church has served as a haven and gathering place for over a century and a half, and now, we open her doors to you and yours. Access to the space for a ceremony, cocktail hour and reception includes a 4.5 hour event. We also welcome ceremony-only and reception-only events. Our venue is a part of the greater Hotel Peter and Paul, with 71 hotel rooms across three historic buildings, the former schoolhouse, convent and rectory. All are available to rent during your wedding weekend and to keep your guests close by for this momentous occasion.


Our event spaces

The Church

We are the lucky stewards of a 5,000-square-foot decommissioned red brick Catholic church, the former Sts. Peter and Paul, designed by New Orleans architect Henry Howard. We strive to create a balanced mix of private and public gatherings of all sorts in this still-sacred space. Access to the space for a ceremony & reception includes a 4.5 hour event. Load-in starts at noon the day of the event for preparation, photos, and vendors. Due to the noise ordinance in our residential neighborhood, all events must end by 10:00 PM, with load-out complete two hours after the event ends.

Outlets and architectural spotlights (plans available). 95 mahogany Chiavari chairs & white cushion. Ten 60" round tables. Twelve 30" tables (highboy or table height). 2 speakers and 2 subwoofers with 1 wireless microphone. A baby grand piano. Utilities including electricity, A/C or heat & wifi. Men’s and women’s restrooms, fully stocked with proper amenities including custom hand soap & lotion. Fully wheelchair accessible.

    You can feel the history and romance as soon as you step foot in this venue. It’s elegant and breathtaking. Very little decor needed to make your wedding spectacular. The hotel attached is also a wonderful place to stay and get ready on your wedding day. It was so fun running into guest in the halls. It felt like living in a dorm with all the people you love. The staff and service is excellent and the style is impeccable. Molly the event coordinator was quick to reply and very helpful in having wedding objects shipped to the hotel as we were coming from out of town. It doesn’t hurt that the Elysian bar is serving up some of the best cocktails in New Orleans (meaning some of the best in the world) right across the courtyard. Everything on the wedding day ran seamlessly. Couldn’t have asked for a more perfect location.
