About this venue

The Foundation of Light is a spiritual center for meditation. The study and regular practice of meditation, as an aid to the expansion of consciousness and self-realization, is a fundamental part of all Foundation of Light activities. The founders of the Foundation of Light, John and Kate Payne, along with Mabel DeMotte Beggs, were experts in many forms of ancient healing techniques. Built in 2000, the main Foundation of Light building has several diverse rooms available, depending on your group size and needs.

The Bell Tent

The Bell Tent, set up on the Foundation of Light’s beautiful landscaped lawn, creates a perfect space for any outdoor gathering.

Schoolhouse

This Greek Revival one-room schoolhouse, called Hibbard’s Corners, was built about 1840 and functioned as a public school until 1936. Many members remember with fondness the years we met at the schoolhouse. Currently, it houses the Lantern School for homeschoolers and is used for workshops on weekends and when the school is not in session. It seats up to 50.

Great Room

Gorgeous, warm, light filled room

This spacious light-filled room has excellent acoustics, large windows, and hardwood floors make it ideal for concerts, weddings, or other large events. Chairs and tables, sound system, and an upright piano are included. A fully equipped kitchen is available for your next event as an adjunct to your use of the Great Room. It offers plenty of prep space, including large counters and a movable island, full-size stove and refrigerator, and a large serving window into the Great Room.
