I used to be a divorce attorney, I had brain surgery, and now I'm a wedding photographer. Yes, you read that right. But there's obviously more to the story. Before going to law school I went to school for photojournalism and even worked for newspapers. After brain surgery turned my life upside down, I realized I wanted to go back to my roots as a photojournalist and I wanted to capture truly joyful, enthusiastic moments and voila - I fell in love with weddings and photographing them.

Our vibe at Kivus & Camera is fun and colorful. We believe that there is more to the world than "light and airy" or "dark and moody". Because color exists and it makes everything vibrant and energetic and we love that. So, with our bright, fun, and colorful photos, we attract couples who are bright and fun and colorful. Kivus & Camera couples truly have the best weddings and we're right there capturing the genuine moments (be they hilarious or tear-jerking) AND the creative, artistic, breathtaking portraiture we've come to be known for.

    When it came to wedding planning, the photographer was my most important decision. That's also what I say to friends and family who are planning weddings. After everything is over, your photographs are what you have to remember a once-in-a-lifetime experience that is over in a blink! It was important to me that our photos reflected our personalities and were worthy of our walls and frames. Kivus & Camera are truly exceptional wedding photographers and were everything I had hoped for. From the moment we first spoke with them, their communication style was open, caring, and responsive. They were dependable and fully committed to ensuring our wedding day was captured beautifully. As an LGBTQ couple, we worried the perfect photographer would be hard to find, but Elyssa and John are wonderful, and we couldn't have done better. Elyssa is a lovely person who is easy to hang out with on top of being a fabulous, talented and professional photographer. The quality of their work is simply stunning - they have an artistic, one-of-a-kind style that resulted in photos that are both beautiful and unique. We will enjoy our photos and memories from our engagement shoot and wedding day for years to come thanks to the thoughtful way Elyssa and John captured each moment. Logistically, our photos were easy to get and work with. Elyssa curates things for you in a way that makes sense. We ordered a photo book as well, and it is absolutely gorgeous. We cannot recommend Kivus & Camera enough to any couple looking for wedding photographers who will go above and beyond to make your special day perfect. In fact, they just photographed my sister's wedding this summer as well. So you know that we were all happy if we were willing to make it a family affair! You will not be sorry if you work with Kivus & Camera. (But you might be sorry if you don't!)

    We LOVE working with Kivus and Camera! They are professional, responsive, fun, detailed and so very talented. On the wedding day, everything runs smoothly and you can truly tell they love what they do. They do an excellent job building a strong friendship with every couple. By the next day, they already share an extensive sneak peek of the stunning images they have taken. We can't recommend them enough!

    The vibrant colors that Elyssa captures are my favorite! Besides being super talented she is a delight to be around. She is approachable, yet completely professional. I have worked with Elyssa on many weddings and it has always been a great experience. I would highly recommend Kivus & camera!
