From an early age, I could often be found knee deep in mud & weeds. I spent my most memorable childhood summers exploring the beautiful foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains, gathering treasures under the shade of the oaks on my abuelita’s ranch. When I moved north to Alaska, my love for the natural world grew deeper still. I found myself out foraging food & flowers on our endless trails, returning home with basketfuls of lupine, fireweed, fern, & fritillaria. Designing floral vignettes became a creative outlet as I balanced a career working in nonprofits. I made the jump into full-time floral design 5 years ago & have never looked back!

My love of florals is obviously rooted in their organic nature, but I’m also fascinated by their ability to transform some of life's most special & intimate moments through the unique stories they tell when curated with thought, intention, & precision. I believe that flowers are a deeply emotive medium, connecting us across time & distance; conveying not only my artistic creativity, but also the vision & the sentiments you hope to convey.

We are so grateful that we had the opportunity to hire Melissa as the florist for our wedding. She was incredibly creative, organized, and easy to work with. Her floral arrangements were more beautiful than we could have hoped for, and she was so great to work with. We no longer live in the Anchorage area, but we would absolutely hire her again for any floral needs and would recommend her to anyone in need of a florist.

Melissa is the best flower designer I have ever seen. Our goal was to create something unique and simple, something that really reflected the nature and beauty of Alaska and the wildlife center. Melissa took this vision and transformed the space into something truly extraordinary. The pictures speak for themselves. I have never seen a wedding reception like this and I don't know if I will again. Her understanding of different tones and textures added so much depth to our simple color palette. Her floral columns and beautiful bar display were simply inspired, and a highlight of the evening for our guests. She truly listened to us during the process and created a space that was unique and authentic to us, the flower newbs who knew nothing. And even more importantly, Melissa is a consummate professional, a kind and empathetic and beautiful soul, and an absolute rock - someone that you want to have in your corner during wedding planning. I am so grateful for Melissa's work, and for her friendship!

Flowers have always been something so special to me, so when I got married and when I opted for florals for events like a big birthday party, I sought Melissa out. She is so incredibly talented on top of being a wonderful human being. The care and thought she puts into each and every flower choice and the arrangements she ultimately creates are extraordinary. She is very easy to work with and communicate ideas with from start to finish. If flowers are meaningful to you, then you should absolutely choose to work with somebody who appreciates that meaning, and that person is Melissa with Honeybloom Floral Design.

Melissa is a floral genius! Not only does she listen and value what clients are envisioning for their wedding, event, etc, she brings her own creativity and expertise to the project to make it epic! As a wedding vendor myself, I've worked with Melissa many times and when I say every single project is beyond gorgeous, I'm not exaggerating! She is also one of the sweetest people I've met.
