Lucy J's Bakery

Lucy J’s Bakery kneads hope by baking with a mission! Offering delicious breads, croissants, cookies, and even special event cakes, we bake everything from scratch in the shop at Crosstown Concourse. Our belief is that all people should be able to earn a living wage and support their families. For 7 years, we have primarily made celebration cakes for birthdays, weddings, and anniversaries. As the retail store became more and more of a reality, we expanded into croissants, danishes, breads, pies, and lots of other delicious treats.

We are a non-profit operation with a mission to employ parents who are transitioning out of homelessness. We do this by working with the Dororthy Day House to provide employment opportunities where Memphians earn an hourly wage of $15 and receive a medical plan. The Dorothy Day House provides transitional housing and support services for homeless families. Lucy J's provides a job opportunity where employees earn $15/hour, receive a health plan through Church Health, learn skills through various positions in the bakery, and establish a relationship with an employer who will provide a reliable referral for future employment.
