Owner, Lead DJ

Founded in 2019 by our owner, Joe Nagan, Exceptional Entertainment is quickly becoming a well-known name in the entertainment industry. Joe has a strong passion for music having attended UW-Oshkosh for Music Engineering and traveling the world performing since a young age with various chorale groups. Booking Exceptional Entertainment is much more than just hiring a person to play some music. Our fantastic DJs are there to help you every step of the way. We provide so much more than just music and lighting, we provide an experience for you and your guests to enjoy and remember.

I have personally been a professional DJ for 14 years and have helped hundreds of couples bring their wedding vision to life. I believe in quality equipment, but more importantly knowledgable DJs that know how to properly use it. Your entertainment can make or break your wedding which is why I believe in constant education to deliver the best possible service to all our clients. You deserve more than just a man behind a computer, fancy lights, and loud music. If you are looking for a great DJ look no further! He was able to keep the flow of the night, he was very prompt and organized, and we had so much fun! Our dance floor was full the whole night because of his ability to read our audience! Thank you Joe for making our wedding so special!

My wife and I got married in October and Joe absolutely CRUSHED it! Our dance floor was full the entire night. He played banger after banger and our guests were loving it. Exceptional Entertainment was the perfect DJ choice for our wedding! From the very beginning, Joe and his team were incredibly responsive and accommodating, working closely with us to ensure the music and flow of the day were exactly what we wanted. Their attention to detail and willingness to go the extra mile (like coordinating with the caterer to announce dinner early and providing fun light sticks for the dance floor) really made our wedding day seamless and stress-free. The quality of their work exceeded our expectations, and all of our guests are still raving about how amazing the music and entertainment was. All of the DJs who work for Exceptional Entertainment have a minimum of 10 years of professional DJ experience.

We only use state-of-the art professional equipment that minimizes wires and doesn’t look bulky.

We always retain one DJ per weekend as a backup in the event of an emergency.

Our DJs do take requests and may play some of them. Our DJs “filter” requests, meaning they will not play a song that you specifically asked the DJ not to play or music from a genre you asked the DJ not to play. If someone makes a request that fits in well with what the DJ is playing at the time and with the music the client wants, then the DJ may play the request.

Sure, but we would like to get the music file(s) in advance of the event. If doing this please consider the audience attending your event.

A 40% deposit is required at the time of booking and the remaining balance is due 14 days prior to the event date. Payments can be made through our online planning system using a debit or credit card or PayPal account.

Clients may cancel up to 60 days prior to the event start date without being liable for the remaining balance.

We do not include gratuity in the final contract price. 10 – 20% is generally recommended if your DJ did a great job, but it is entirely up to you.

This is not required in our contract and is completely up to you. Typically, the catering director or event coordinator will set aside a meal or boxed dinner for the DJ if requested by the client.

We offer DJ services for wedding ceremonies and receptions, corporate events, private parties, and school functions. We offer lighting options (uplighting and dance floor lighting) and have photo booths available. We also offer karaoke services!

You can select songs that you would like to hear at your event (as well as songs you don’t want to hear) through our online planning system. We recommend giving your DJ at least 10-15 songs of different genres and artists that you would like to hear. During your initial consultation, your DJ will ask about your music preferences.

Our DJs arrive 3 to 4 hours prior to the contracted start time to set up and contact vendors for any last minute changes. We can arrive earlier if requested by the client for an additional fee. We do not like to set up while your guests are present.
