The Local Petaler is a wedding and event floral design studio based in St. Charles, IL. The business started as a part-time venture just over 4 years ago in my mom's garage and quickly blossomed (awful pun) into a full-fledged career. With at least 100 weddings produced under The Local Petaler and countless others worked on as a freelance designer for other companies, I've done a little bit of everything at every venue. As a graduate of Parsons School of Design in New York, Meredith Mandel fell in love with flowers when she worked as a prop stylist. She spent many early (early!) mornings at the flower market on 28th street, preparing for various photo shoots throughout any given week.

I started Petal Design Studio in 2006, making the decision to turn a lifelong love of flowers and nature into a career. I am always excited by the challenges and opportunities that each new client brings. For me, an intimate wedding dinner for 20 or a blow-out bash for 300 inspire the same attention to detail and creative expression needed to make an event that is both memorable and delightful.

I am a stay-at-home mom of three who loves flowers. Growing up on my family farm I foraged flowers and foliage to make arrangements for friends and neighbors. I love dreaming about weddings with brides and designing lovely arrangements out of stunning local flowers. Flowers are so gorgeous on their own, it is a delight to work with them. My dream of having my own flower farm is finally a reality! When you book me, your flowers will be unique and fully local, from my farm and other local farms. I especially enjoy using seasonal flowers because they lend their own character to the finished designs. I look forward to hearing from you!
