Pop Culture Strings is more than a group of uber-talented, young, and stylish string musicians — rather, it offers a new way to experience music as these instruments unite in unexpected combinations and other instruments such as piano, rhythm sections, and the like. Ranging from standards by Cole Porter and Frank Sinatra to classic rock hits by Journey and Bon Jovi, and extending to contemporary hits of today by Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and B.O.B.—these two violins, a viola, and a cello have never sounded so contemporary.

After studying music composition and performance at Salisbury University, David migrated from the small-town atmosphere of his youth on the Eastern Shore of Maryland to the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area, where he has since been playing music for a living. He now performs regularly along the mid-Atlantic region of the US, occasionally touring in other parts of the country as well. In the process, he has developed a strong fan base and attracted attention from many well-known names in the music industry and beyond, from Performing Songwriter magazine to Dean Dinning of Toad the Wet Sprocket to Ben Stein.

As a young child, Ricardo (Richard) was introduced to the guitar by his father, the eminent classical guitarist John E. Marlow. He went on to receive a degree from the James Madison School of Music (James Madison University) in 1997. Mr. Marlow subsequently took up the flamenco guitar and studied with master, Gerardo Núñez, in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Spain, and continues to do so yearly since 1999. In 1997 Mr. Marlow began playing professionally as a guitarist for the Arte Flamenco Dance Company and in venues such as The Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage and the Baltimore Museum of Art, among others.

Tiffany Rose Shanta began playing violin and piano at a very young age. She comes from a musical family, having first been taught by her mother, an accomplished harpist, before being under the tutelage of world renowned violinist and conductor, Luis Haza. She toured in France and Germany, and performed at Carnegie Hall. For many years now, Tiffany has performed for weddings and special events in the Washington, DC and surrounding areas. Some of her past clients and venues include: The King of Saudi Arabia, the Library of Congress, The National Press Club, The Kennedy Center, The Smithsonian.

His music career thus far has brought him to 60 different countries on 4 continents. Currently, Dom adheres to a busy gig schedule in the Washington DC area, performing regularly at some of the area’s most recognized venues with a variety of different artists and projects.

Aaron is a high end DJ who has worked all over the DC and Northern Virginia area. He began to DJ in 1995, performing at countless clubs and bars in Atlanta to help support his music career as a bass player. Aaron’s love of music began in high school playing bass in jazz band.

Jill started DJing in 2003 for Associated Consultants, for schools, nightclubs, weddings & corporate events! She has been the DJ for Linedanceforyou, an organization that teaches line dances of all styles, since 2006, which serves the Northern Va. area on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays. Because Jill is also a professional musician, she is made constantly aware of all genres of music, by engaging with the public 7 days a week. She can easily play a night of Latino, trap, country, oldies, and current dance tunes but also has a children’s library of songs for school events.

Starting at the age of 10, Jocelyn always had a passion for music and enjoyed watching her father DJ. As a quick learner, and now at the age of 24, Jocelyn has now become a well-seasoned and a highly sought after DJ in the DMV area. Her music portfolio consists of 30,000 plus songs stemming from Big Band, Rock, R&B, Jazz, Pop, to Hip Hop. She has performed in over 50+ venues, some included are Grand Ballrooms, Country Clubs, Smithsonian Castle, to local night clubs and backyard BBQ’s. He has served as Vice President of the Dayton Classical Guitar Society as well as Vice President of the Washington Guitar Society.

I have been a singer/musician for more than 25 years playing Latin and International music in clubs, hotels, etc. I have theatre experience at the Kennedy Center, Shakespeare Theatre, Arena Stage and Gala Theatre.
