Frederick DJs

4.0

  • DJ
  • Starts at $1,850
  • Serves Pleasant Hall, PA

My team of DJs and I truly appreciate it. A little background on who I am and what sets Frederick DJs apart from the rest. Starting as a DJ as a kid, yes, a kid of only 14! I took a huge interest in the entertainment industry. It started a little before then, but that’s when I got into DJing. I fell in love with playing music for others while working at a roller-skating rink. (Wisconsin Sk8 University) I later moved on from the roller rink where I became a DJ assistant for a solo DJ who specialized in weddings. Let’s just day that gave me a whole new love for the job.

We recently had Robert DJ our June wedding. Pros were that he was on time and friendly. He handled little hiccups smoothly and w/o complaint. Prices are reasonable and he offers a lot of services, like ceremony recordings and fun add-ons. He really can be a one-stop shop for a lot of wedding entertainment. While I think he is a good all-purpose DJ, I'm not sure that he was the right fit for us in the end. Specifically our two biggest concerns were that 1) he didn't consistently use the language we had asked him to use to address guests and 2) communication leading up to the wedding was less organized than I would have preferred. In our case, we really prioritized communicating with vendors about our desire for an affirming, somewhat non-traditional wedding. From the onset when we hired vendors, we asked about comfort and experience working with a diverse range of guests and requested that vendors be attentive to using inclusive language, especially as it relates to including LGBTQ folks. In the case of DJ services, we requested he not use gendered language like "ladies and gentlemen" due to the gender diversity of our guests. We also had an integrated wedding party so we weren't using some of the traditional wedding party language. I get that this is a specific and maybe unusual request, so we wanted to be really sure our vendors were okay with it, and Robert was super friendly and agreeable when we talked about it. I think Robert's intentions were really good here -- he expressed a lot of desire to make sure he got this right and willingness to be careful. Maybe those requests were made too long ago though, because when we got to the day of, we had a lot of issues here. Our coordinator had to talk to him about using less gendered language, which did not seem to result in much improvement (there was definitely effort...at one point he said "ladies and....guests....esteemed guests" but then he went right back to "ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls"), and it was really frustrating for both us and her. He also told us we'd have a ceremony recording the day after. There was really no rush, but that was what he told us would happen. Instead, we got the recording a week later than he had originally stated, and we were not told it would be delayed until I asked twice. I think it's also worth noting that the ceremony recording did not include the music for procession and recession. (This is on us, we should have confirmed that would be included, but it was disappointing) Communication tended to be a little last-minute and unscheduled -- e.g., spontaneous phone calls rather than putting something on the calendar. Followups were sometimes required. He also texted me (bride) the morning of asking if he could bring an assistant and requesting we add a meal for that additional person. Not a big deal, but I do wish he would have communicated in advance/not while we were all trying to get ready. Otherwise, I thought/heard feedback that some of the music transitions were a bit awkward, but not to an extent that was too disruptive. None of these are big issues, but the multitude of small communication inconveniences and frustrations did add up to where I would not feel comfortable recommending Frederick DJs to a friend. Robert is nice, but I'm not sure he was the right call for our needs. He might be a better fit for someone else, particularly if you are looking to include a number of add-ons and want to use one, reasonably-priced company

DJMcvibes Entertainment

5.0

  • DJ
  • Starts at $1,500
  • Serves Pleasant Hall, PA

Dj McVibes found a job at a production/entertainment company where he learned the ins and outs of being a wedding/event dj. From there he started to dj on his own as he became more confident and has done many Weddings/events and still continues. He later also took more courses to learn more about djing such as scratching and live mashups, but also took courses on how to produce his own music. Dj Mcvibes now works with various dj companies and runs his own dj business.

Ian was a fantastic wedding DJ. He met with us before the wedding to discuss requests and ask about vibe, etc. He was much more interested in making the wedding what we wanted instead of some others we met with that seemed like they wanted to be the focus of attention. Highly recommend

Final Life Form

  • Solo performer

Rich loves learning new music and sharing it with friends and family. When he has a special day like a wedding performance, he thrives on the energy that surrounds the event. Rich takes the magic of the wedding ceremony and makes it unique and memorable with the emotive power of his guitar music. Rich's talent really blooms when he is part of a wedding ceremony as he feeds off the vibes of the special occasion.

Rich Thompson was the perfect selection to play for our wedding ceremony! He was extremely easy and flexible to work with. Rich is a super professional and nice guy. He is classically trained and you can tell by the quality of his playing. As a plus, his fees are very reasonable, and believe me I called many musicians. Rich gave me such peace of mind feeling confident and comfortable that he would play the songs we chose exactly how we wanted them. He carefully listened to our requests and helped plan the selections with giving great suggestions that I didn't even think of. I would absolutely, without reservation, recommend Rich to make your perfect day perfectly beautiful with his music!!

DJ Ed and his wife Jess were very easy to work with and ultimately saved our day due to needing a last minute change of DJ 2 weeks before our wedding. DJ Ed was very professional, easy to communicate with and played a great playlist. He was also great with nonverbal communication as well during the reception for our first dance, as we wanted to cut the dance shorter than the length of the whole song and with the transition to cake cutting. He helped us figure it all out last minute and it went very smoothly and we can't thank him enough for being a part of our day.

Sharon Valley Harp, LLC

  • Ceremony only
  • Starts at $500
  • Serves Pleasant Hall, PA for additional fees

By the time she was three years old, Olivia Claggett was asking for a harp teacher. At six years old, she began taking piano lessons with Jean Wonders, and at eight she began Suzuki harp lessons with professional harpist, instructor, and adjudicator Candyce Dunham. She never looked back after her first lesson in October 2007. During her many years as a student, Olivia continued to push herself musically by competing in numerous competitions winning the annual Buckeye Christian School Organization’s spring competition for five consecutive years.

Awarded Best of Zola
Olivia is the type of person that when you look up the definition of class, shes listed there. Truly kind and wonderful to work with, her music is beautiful and fluid. I would not recommend many when it comes to live music work but her work on the harp is truly an art. You will never go wrong with trusting her to provide music and atmosphere for your event.

DJ D-Mac & Associates

5.0

  • DJ
  • Serves Pleasant Hall, PA for additional fees

Based in the nation’s capital, DJ D-Mac & Associates changed the wedding DJ game nearly 20 years ago. We continue to innovate, fusing genres, filling dance floors, and bringing smiles to faces. Let's create an unforgettable experience together!

Two words best describe DJ D-Mac: Party Catalyst. I knew he was the perfect DJ for our wedding mere moments into our initial phone consultation. His knowledge and passion for many genres of music was evident from the get go, he was both personable and professional, and he had a genuine enthusiasm for our event. As someone who had a strong vision of the vibe I wanted for our wedding reception, planning the playlist with DJ D-Mac felt like the true collaborative process of my dreams. He took my must play/do not play lists and ran with them, making additional suggestions and unique mixes. He went above and beyond the call of duty in helping troubleshoot sound-related issues with the venue, making lighting suggestions, and even helping us find an excellent karaoke vendor for our after party. His personal style and the style of his DJ setup were sleek, cool, and a little retro, which only added to the wedding aesthetic. Most importantly, DJ D-Mac had an uncanny ability to read the dance floor and know which songs would keep people moving, seamlessly weaving together an eclectic dream mix of everything from '60s soul, disco, '90s R&B, and even Dolly Parton. I truly can't remember another time when I've danced so hard or so joyfully-- I had to briefly go outside to catch my breath after one particularly resplendent mix. A DJ can really make or break a wedding reception, and DJ D-Mac dazzled all of our friends and family-- many of them still mention how much fun they had dancing at our wedding more than a year later. I wish I could throw a hundred more events so I could hire DJ D-Mac to DJ-- or at least wish he could be at the helm of the turntables at every event I attend in the future.

Fireside Events was one of the very first vendors we booked for our wedding day, and easily one of the best decisions we made during the entire process. Erinn and Eric are not only totally professional, reliable, and talented at what they do, but they are also two of the MOST fun, welcoming, and friendly people we know. They made us feel special throughout our entire planning process and went totally above and beyond to accommodate some of our unusual requests. Noir Hathor Sounds by Terrease Aiken

  • Solo performer
  • Starts at $1,500
  • Serves Pleasant Hall, PA for additional fees

I am a NY-based Harpist with over 18 years of experience. I have been fortunate enough to play for dozens of professional events and weddings along the East Coast. I have performed at many different events, from weddings to corporate Holiday parties to tea parties to retirement parties. Some of the locations I have been lucky to perform include the Marriott Marquis in Times Square and The Willard Intercontinental in Washington D.C. Most recently I was selected to be a featured musician on an episode of the Drew Barrymore show!

Working with Terrease was an absolute delight! She added such grace to our event! She was able to customize one of her packages to suit our needs for our day. She learned a song- creating her own arrangement for the song and it came out beautifully! Our guests were raving over her unique selection of songs! Our only regret is that we didn't hire her for our cocktail hour too!

Mariachi Hidalgo N.Y.C

5.0

  • Band or Ensemble
  • Serves Pleasant Hall, PA for additional fees

Mariachi Hidalgo was founded in 2017 and is led by our Musical Director Hernan Hidalgo Treviño who is a first-generation musician within his family. At the age of 21, Hernan is New York City’s, as well as the East Coast’s, 1st ever “Youngest Musical Director of a Mariachi Band”. Hernan graduated from the CUNY of Hunter College as a Music and History major to better prepare himself for both the musical and culture of mariachi. Within the first 2 years, Mariachi Hidalgo has performed in some of New York's exclusive places. Hernan's main goal is to inspire and motivate other youths to continue this musical tradition of mariachi.

My name is Kiyoko Nakamura, my husband is Mexican American, and I am Japanese. We celebrated our 15-year Anniversary here in New York City on December 18th, 2021. (We are from California) I wanted to surprise my husband with a Mariachi Band (he loves Mariachi) that offered quality in service and performance. I have a M.M from Kyoto University for Music & Art, and I fully understand what I was looking for in a Mariachi band. I investigated each Mariachi band here in NYC, their quality as musicians, social media, reviews etc. Many mariachi bands stated, "they are the best" or "Number 1 in NEW YORK CITY", but I can assure you all from looking at their YouTube performances & social medias that they are NOT. A few did play back, had a CD recording of an actual PROFESSIONAL band in the background while these so called "Best in NYC" made it seem as if it was them performing, FALSE advertisement. Once I saw Mariachi Hidalgo NYC, directed person with a B.A in Music & History. (Having a degree in any accredited field is one way to ensure the person knows what they are offering.) I investigated everything about this ensemble before contacting. YouTube , Instagram, all their social medias in order to understand whom I was calling. After checking out everything, proper technique on their instruments and vocals, no play back, presentable, quality musicians. I knew this band was going to be AMAZING! From the moment I called to book them until the performance's date this is what I received. A very professional service to not just me but my husband and guests as well. Very detailed in terms of explaining the full booking process, punctual, proper technique on their instruments & voice, an amazing show that interacts with the crowd. This band had it all! Everyone loved it! Visual Aspect:/ Performance Technical playing, clean suits, well groomed, presentable. 100/100 If you are looking for a mediocre or an economical option or a group to just make noise regardless of how they sound. Then I would not recommend this band for your event. If, however, you are looking for a PROFESSIONAL band to make your special moments even more memorial. Then YES, I recommend this band too you, Mariachi Hidalgo NYC! You will not be disappointed. Overall: Quality, Punctual, Presentable, Professional, Show/Performance, Amazing service from start to finish. If we ever visit New York City again, we will definitely contract Mariachi Hidalgo again for all of our events. Best Regards, Kiyoko Nakamura Master's in Music, Kyoto University for Music & Art

I am a pro pianist/singer/keyboardist and Church organist performing since 1983 in the Lehigh Valley of PA prominently but also Philadelphia/Philly suburbs/MontCo/Bucks/Chester/Berks; also extensively in NYC/NJ; trips include Syracuse/Albany NY, Alexandria VA, Atlanta GA and Las Vegas for private events. We can’t say enough about Jim Loftus as pianist and entertainer at family events like weddings, rehearsal dinners and big parties at home. Our family loves to gather around the piano and sing our favorites, and Jim knows ALL of them. We have hired him already on numerous occasions and surely will again.
