The Vintage DJ

5.0

  • DJ
  • Starts at $4,000
  • Serves Marlborough, CT for additional fees

The Vintage DJ presents the most electrifying music of the 20th Century as it was meant to be experienced! Spinning only original 45s, 33s and 78s from the 1920s through the 1970s on two tube-powered vintage record players, The Vintage DJ arrives and we hear that unique sound, filling the air with the feeling that anything is possible. His killer record collection runs the gamut between Jazz and Latin, Soul and R&B, Rock ’n’ Roll, British Invasion, Reggae and much more. As The Vintage DJ, Jonathan has been setting dance floors alight from New York City to Shanghai to Los Angeles.

When we were planning our wedding we wanted to make sure that everyone who came - our nearest and dearest - would enjoy every minute of it, and remember it fondly for years to come. The Vintage DJ worked with us to curate the music hour by hour. From arrivals, wedding entrance, cocktail hour, and party, every song was perfect, and everyone - even those who don't normally get up to dance - danced! Having a record player and the beautiful vinyl covers displayed was a beautiful touch which made our special day, even more special! Jonathan is a complete professional and a pleasure to work with!

Cause and The Effects

5.0

  • Band or Ensemble
  • Starts at $8,500
  • Serves Marlborough, CT for additional fees

Based in Staten Island, New York, Cause and The Effects is an enthusiastic band comprised of young musical professionals ready to perform at your wedding. The band was founded in 2011 but the versatile members have been playing together and separately for more than two decades. You can choose between a seven-, eight-, or 10-piece band to perform at your reception, while smaller groups can perform during the ceremony and cocktail hour. Show-stopping music is performed with a variety of instruments such as horns, percussion, saxophones, flute, and piano. They are based in Staten Island but are willing to travel to destination weddings.

If you’re considering a live band for your wedding reception, look no further than Cause and the Effects. We hired the full 10-piece band to play at our wedding reception on 9/23/23, and that was undoubtedly one of the best decisions we made. From our initial calls all the way through the actual event, the band set themselves apart and proved to be far more than a standard event vendor. They were completely invested in giving us the best experience possible. Vin and Anthony took the time to get to know us, our interests, and how we wanted the event to flow, and used all of that information to put together an amazing set. Our reception had a few unique twists, and the band took each of our requests in stride with enthusiasm and professionalism. Leading up to our reception, Vin communicated with some of our other vendors to make sure any intersecting elements (for example, audio/video and lighting) went smoothly. And day-of, the full band’s talent and energy blew us away. Once the party started, it did not stop for a single second. We, the majority of our guests–and eventually, some of the band members & instruments themselves!--were going wild on the dance floor the entire night. Even the non-dancers in the crowd were sitting and enjoying the music with huge smiles on their faces. Throughout the event, many people pulled us aside so they could tell us how much they were loving the music…and in speaking to guests afterward, the first thing every single person mentioned was how incredible the band was. And talk about a personal playlist–not only did they create a completely unique rendition of our first dance song (Starlight by Muse) to match our dance choreography, but they also delivered a huge surprise. In our consultations, we’d mentioned how important the band Linkin Park is to us…so Cause and the Effects learned “In the End” just for us, and delivered a phenomenal performance as one of the closing songs of the night. It was so meaningful, and it’s something we’ll never forget. Please don’t hesitate to make Cause and the Effects one of the first vendors you book for your event. "Five stars" is not a high enough rating!

Mama Juke

5.0

  • Band or Ensemble
  • Starts at $2,000
  • Serves Marlborough, CT

Mama Juke is a gumbo of New Orleans influenced blues, blue-eyed soul, funk, and folk. Actor/singer Elijah Bridges brings elements of bluegrass and rag with his soulful harmonica, acoustic guitar, and voice. Amos Rose is a world traveling multi-instrumentalist who also sings and plays lead Telecaster guitar, and was recently featured by Jazz at Lincoln Center. Brendan O’Grady is an in-demand session musician and fixture on the greater New York scene since his roots growing up in Yonkers. Drummer Jon Wert is a sought-after musician, collaborating with a wide variety of artists in the jazz, rock, pop production shows and songwriter worlds.

Mama Juke was absolutely incredible at our wedding! They played for both our ceremony and cocktail hour, and their music truly set the perfect vibe for each part of the day. We had to make some last-minute adjustments due to rain, and they were so flexible and accommodating, handling everything with ease. From the moment we started working with them, they were easy to communicate with and completely professional. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about how amazing they sounded, and they really made the whole day feel extra special. We’re so grateful to Mama Juke for making our wedding unforgettable, and we would highly recommend them!

Echo A Cappella is an award-winning group that has combined talented voices to bring you professional, exciting, and emotional performances for 10 years! We have performed at events all over the country, including local venues like the Plaza, the New York Botanical Garden, the Central Park Zoo, and the Museum of Natural History. If you’re thinking about hiring an a cappella group for your event, stop looking. You’ve found it. Seriously. I reached out to Echo several months before my wedding to help plan and ultimately perform a surprise song during my wedding ceremony. Kyle and the entire Echo group were a dream to work with. They were professional, thoughtful, responsive, and so helpful in planning what would ultimately be the highlight of the whole wedding! At a time when planning is stressful, especially planning a surprise for the groom, Echo made the process feel calm, cool, and collected. Thank you, Echo!

Cuarteto Guataca

5.0

  • Band or Ensemble
  • Starts at $2,000
  • Serves Marlborough, CT for additional fees

Bassist and bandleader Josh Levine got his start in the professional music business busking in SoHo with The Flying Neutrinos in ’93, so when NYC shut down in Spring of 2020, he capitalized on his experience as a street performer and began to play regularly in the parks of NYC with percussionist and sonero, Jainardo Batista, renowned flutist Itai Kriss making his debut on Cuban trés guitar, and María Raquel on vocals and minor percussion. Before long, the quartet had generated some buzz, several venues hired them to play outdoors and pianist Gabriel Chakarji and Grammy winning flutist and vocalist Jeremy Bosch became staples of the group.

Cuarteto Guataca is AMAZING. Every single member of this group is an absolute joy to work with, and their talent is beyond words! Cuarteto was our wedding band, and I don’t think anyone sat down the entire reception! Hire them now!!

We can't say enough about how amazing Carte Blanche was at our event. Not only are they incredible musicians, but Kate the bandleader made everything so smooth from the planning process. She was very thorough and made sure everything went off without a hitch. They learned a few special songs for our ceremony and reception and put their own special touch on them to make it really special for us. They looked so glamorous and our friends and family are still telling us how unique they were, and couldn't believe how many languages the singer can sing in! This band is truly special and will elevate your wedding. Thank you Carte Blanche for an unforgettable night!
