Summers Mill Retreat and Conference center has been built on a rich history. When it was founded in 1998 by Paul and Jane Meyer, they wanted "this place to be a ministry and to lead with a servant’s heart based on Christian values and principles." The name of our retreat center goes back to the grist mill built by John Myers in the spring of 1866. Business was good and within a year, he added a saw mill and a cotton gin. When John Myers died, it passed in rapid succession through the hands of Robert A. Myers, Douglas McKenzie, and D.C. Summers. Summers installed a crossroads store and secured a post office under the name of Summers Mill.

I have been playing harp for over 50 years. I love to play for weddings and receptions in the Central Texas area and have been doing so since 1970. I am a retired Biology teacher, having taught for 22 years. After I retired I started teaching the Suzuki Method to young people and adults and I find this very rewarding. I have lived in the Killeen/Harker Heights for 41 years. My husband, Dennis, and I have one son and two grandchildren. I have played with the Temple Symphony, the Temple College Orchestra, the Central Texas Master Singers, and I was in the TCU Orchestra when I attended college.

I provide all musical and lighting equipment, take minimal breaks, and provide DJ material that includes the most popular line dances and related material as requested. My song list is very extensive, with a mixture of classic honky-tonk Country, Texas Country, and a little classic Rock. Hey there! I'm Matthew, a veteran photographer with over 25 years of experience behind the lens specializing in budget-friendly, high-quality photography based out of Leander, Texas. I have been shooting since I was about ten years old on 110 cameras, in high school I learned to shoot on a 35 MM camera. Professionally I accepted my first paid shoot in 1996, a boudoir session for the girlfriend turned wife of a friend deploying overseas with the Army. I earned $50 and a six-pack of beer for a one-hour session on a Canon AE1 35 MM film camera I bought at a yard sale.

Believe it or not, we often have people ask if our pictures throughout our website are showing a mix of fresh and faux and…no they aren’t! Although fresh florals are pretty, we are totally in love with poser-blooms all the way here and that’s what we design 100% of our orders with.
