The Hollywood Theater is an iconic Art Deco landmark in Northeast Minneapolis. When it opened in 1936, the theater was described as “the incomparable showcase of the Northwest’’. After years of decline, the theater closed in 1987 and was purchased by the city of Minneapolis. Twenty-five years of inaction and neglect followed until 2014 when the National Park Service recognized the building’s historical significance and listed it on the National Register of Historic Places. In 2015 the theater was sold to Northeast-resident and entrepreneur Andrew Volna, who saved the building and restored its original Art Deco splendor. Today it is ready to host your event.

The interpretive center has several rooms and spaces available to rent for meetings, wedding receptions, galas, company events, birthday parties, family reunions and more! The multipurpose room can be split into three smaller spaces (Aspen, Oak and Willow), two larger rooms or left as one large room. The Grand Banquet Hall is located just a couple blocks from the St. Croix River in historic downtown Stillwater, MN! Originally a part of the logging days that Stillwater was established for. Our ballroom features beautiful stained glass décor, space for up to 350 guests, a generous dance floor and a long stunning antique bar.

For centuries, the beauty and natural treasures of the St. Croix Valley have drawn people to the area which is now Stillwater. The first to call this area home were the Sioux and Chippewa Nations. Later, the first traders and trappers in Minnesota Territory settled here. By the mid 1880’s, railroading and river activity helped build the community into a bustling town of 13,000 people. Stillwater became the trade center for miners and trappers to the North, and farmers and lumbermen to the West. The Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroad eventually saw a need for a freight depot. In 1979, the historical significance of the building was recognized and the Freight House became the first building in Stillwater to be placed on the National Registry of Historic Places.

Built in 1895, this building was renovated in 2013 to become Loft 214, one of the most unique, rustic and charming venues in Minnesota. Loft 214 boasts 4,000 sq feet of event space! Prior to the renovation in 2013 the historic building was used as housing accommodations for lumberjacks in the logging industry.
