House Band wows audiences six nights a week, playing all styles of popular music, from classic oldies, to funk and R&B, and even contemporary pop and rock hits. There is nothing quite like the elegance of strings. We recommend string groups for Wedding Ceremonies, Elegant Dinners, and Cocktail Hours. Whether it is the standard grouping of Violin, Violin, Viola and Cello or a hybrid ensemble with harp or guitar, our players are well versed in both classical and contemporary repertoire. Our Hoppin’ John Steel Band performs Calypso, Soca, Reggae, Carnival, Belafonte, “Beach Music” and standard American selections as well. Instrumentalists in this group include steel drums (or “pans”) of various sizes, guitar, bass, drums, percussion, keyboard, horns, vocalists, limbo dancers and other specialists added for special occasions.

The Celtic Balladeers perform all styles of Irish and Celtic music. In the above sound clip they are captured live (VERY live) on St. Patty’s day at Coogan’s on Broadway. The sound clip features our guitar and tenor banjo duo while the complete band includes several other instrumentalists such as guitar, Irish tenor banjo, accordion, fiddle, bass, drums, bodhran, whistle, pipes, flute, mandolin, keyboard, horns, vocalists and dancers. Besides the standard, and county specific Irish material they can also perform a whole catalog of American dance music.

String 18 is a perfect trio for wedding ceremonies, cocktail hours, and dinners. Their repertoire includes Classic Rock, Contemporary Pop, Latin, Jazz, and Classical. With three acoustic guitars they create vibrant musical arrangements that range from the elegance of a String Quartet to the fire of the Gipsy Kings. There is almost no piece of music that they cannot perform, so this is a great ensemble for special requests.

Margot Varret is a uniquely gifted performer with both her voice and harp. As a native born French speaker she is expert in the repertoire of Chanson made famous by iconic artists like Edith Piaf and Charles Aznavour. She is also a fabulous classic jazz singer who renders the classics of the great American songbook with a signature French flair. She regularly sells out Birdland Theater leading her own group.

In the 1950s & 60s, The Bronx was home to an amazing photographer that captured weddings and family events. His name? Warren Meurer aka the “Silverfox” (due to his flowing silver and gray locks). I stumbled into it, literally. I had no plans to become a wedding photographer. I was either going to follow my dad’s path and go to dental school, or become a social worker. But a freshman in college decided to shoot a few photos for fun, and now over eight years and almost 200 weddings later, I could not imagine myself doing anything else. This is my dream job!
