The Tony & Helen Morris Hellenic Cultural Center (The MHCC) is a beautifully appointed Asheville Event Venue located within 5 minutes of downtown in the historic Montford District, with wide streets and a canopy of trees. The historic Monte Vista Hotel is a key component to Black Mountain’s storied past. Originally home to the Cherokee people, this valley became an early pathway west for traders, explorers and people seeking a new life beyond the eastern mountains. The town of Black Mountain grew rapidly after the railroad was completed in the late 19th century, and this new “railroad town” needed more lodging. Lucien and Rosalie Phillips opened the Monte Vista in 1919, repurposing a former school building. In 1937, the current brick building was constructed, further cementing the Monte Vista Hotel as a central piece of Black Mountain’s civic and social life. The Annex, a separate structure located behind the original, was added in 1975. Though the hotel has since undergone complete renovations and new ownership, many of the original elements have been preserved, and the new decorative touches complement the look and feel of the original structure.

The first Chinese-Peruvian fusion restaurants were opened in Lima around 1920. Since then, the popularity of Chifa has expanded outside “Calle Capon”, the Barrio Chino area. Chifa combines food traditions of the Peruvian Creole culture, traditional Cantonese cooking methods, and Peruvian ingredients.Because of its popularity, Chinese food began to influence traditional Andean and coastal dishes, and over time Chifa emerged as a new authentic of Peruvian food.

Starting my passion of photography at the young age of ten, I fell in love with the documentary/journalistic style. When I got older, I was moved to make it into a career. I also fell in love with love itself. I saw the beauty in the gift humans feel of cherishing one another. For six years now, I have had the privilege of photographing weddings and elopements of people who feel deeply and love deeply.

I was born in England and moved to the States where I met my husband while working at the Biltmore Estate. We live in Asheville in a farmhouse that we built together with our 3 children and our golden retriever, Milo. My studio is also here and I love that I get to work so close to home. I am a free spirit and am constantly planning the next big adventure. I’m inspired by love, relationships, and living in the Blue Ridge Mountains. She has worked in every capacity of events from intimate birthday celebrations to large high-profile weddings, VIP and backstage parties for internationally touring musicians to the Nobel Peace Prize Forum, and everything in between.

Choy, a native of South Korea, grew up in downtown Pussan. Her extensive, almost 30 year, history of study entails numerous reputable schools of design, including the Ikebana school, and the Hana art school. She recently attended the North Carolina Certified Professional Florists Program in Southern Pines before opening her shop in 2003. Education, in combination with her desire to stay current with trends in the floral industry are what set her apart. Choy is a former member in the Blue Ridge Chapter of Ikebana, the Ikebana International of Asheville, and is a former member of NC State Florist Association.
