Our friendship started about 10 years ago when we bonded over nail polish, eyeshadow and a fierce winged liner. Oh and the fact that we shared the same name. Fast forward a few years later, we both discovered we were trying to learn how to use the exact same camera. We decided to meet on our days off and learn how to use those cameras. We had so much fun taking photos together, we decided to start our own business. We put our names together, Melissa and Melissa, and came up with M Squared Photography.

The horse-apple bearing bodark (bois d'arc ) tree seemed an apt symbol for these transplants from the farm to the city. That twisted hardwood, still found growing wild in suburban medians with its massive green fruit, is a stubborn reminder of the old days when it was used to hedge in cattle.

Henna is a plant based paste that dyes the skin to a brownish maroon shade and lasts between 1-2 weeks depending on care. Intricate and delicate designs are applied from the cone which dries into a crust to reveal a stain after being removed. My homemade henna is organic and made with love and care.
