“After we secured our wedding date and venue, Ryan Films was the very first vendor that we secured and it was the BEST decision we made in the wedding planning process! After seeing their awesome videos on Instagram, we knew we needed to have them film our wedding. Beyond having amazing reviews that highlighted Ryan’s great communication and super professional team, we really liked how Ryan used innovative techniques like flying a drone over the ceremony site to capture a different perspective. When we reached out to Ryan, we got an immediate response and a list of his pricing. Ryan let us know that he worked a lot at our venue, Green Gables Wedding Estate, and knew the staff and how they operated really well. This was awesome news for us since it meant less to coordinate on our end! It was super easy to find the best video package for us and there were even video extras like a “best wishes video” from our guests which was a fun addition. Throughout the planning process, Ryan’s communication was superb and helped keep us on track. A few weeks before the wedding, Ryan sent us a reminder email with items he needed from us for the big day so we didn’t overlook anything. On the day of, Ryan and Zack (his second shooter) were super personable and friendly which made the video experience fun and not awkward like you might assume it would be. Even though it was the first time they worked with our photography team, they did a great job of looking for opportunities to get video while we were posed for photos so we didn’t have to duplicate poses. We both felt like rockstars with the prompts they gave us and are so excited to see the final video. We would definitely recommend anyone looking for an awesome videographer to use Ryan. The main regret we hear from other married couples is that they did not get a videographer for their wedding day. DON’T BE THAT COUPLE! We were so worried about finding a videographer who could give us an actual wedding video and not just the 90 second highlight reel, but he immediately set us at ease. From our initial consultation, Jonathan made us feel so comfortable and listened to. Then, on the actual wedding day we were just amazed at how well everything went. He worked so seamlessly with our photographer, set up multiple angles for our ceremony and toasts, and even had extra lighting for dance-offs on the dance floor. I did not meet Tom face to face until the day of my wedding but from the videos I watched and the conversations we had I knew he would do great work....and I was not wrong! “My husband and I knew it would be an important task hiring a photo/videographer for our wedding. There’s SO many options and styles out there that it’s also daunting to commit to one. We found Cruzio Studios on The Knot and we are incredibly grateful we did. We were drawn to their journalistic style of capturing love between partners: intimate, natural (doesn’t look too posed), synergizes with the location, delicate, and sweet. After having phone calls with other vendors, we were most excited to work with Cruzio. Not only do they have an amazing portfolio (easily accessible on their beautiful website), but they have great packages to offer their clients. Our package came with an engagement shoot and the results were mind-blowing. I know that sounds hyperbolic, but my partner & I don’t show a lot of PDA and the Cruzio team captured our love so sweetly. When we got the photos and video short, we kept on saying, “That’s us!!” Given their portfolio, we trusted their expertise and artistic eye. Not only were they kind while providing clear directions and great ideas, but they’ll do their best to get the optimal shot. They’re immensely generous with their talents considering all the thought and detail they put into their product. Also, they’re really easy to talk to. We felt like we were just hanging out with friends who are very talented photo/videographers! Cruzio Studios definitely did not disappoint on our wedding day. I’m definitely a planner, so I had a list of group photos we wanted for our wedding day. The Cruzio team had that list with them and ensured we got the shots. They are so professional and stuck to our wedding day timeline with such grace. And although our venue spaces weren’t the biggest, they adapted. To that, my husband & I never felt like they were ever in the way or super noticeable. And, of course, their final products are amazing. They captured the excitement leading up our first look & ceremony and joyous celebration during the reception. Also, the romantics are simply so pretty and caught our love perfectly. It’s so lovely to look back at our special day through their talents and lenses. We consider ourselves fortunate to have had them in our wedding dream team. What questions should we ask wedding videographers?

Aside from logistical questions about packages, pricing, and availability, it’s also important to use your conversation to get a sense of their personality. This person will be with you and your loved ones every step of your wedding day, including, if you want, in the dressing room! It's very important that you and your partner both feel comfortable with them and their working style. Talk about your venue, how you want to feel when you look at your video, and which videos from their portfolio you like best. If you have a photographer already, also ask if they’ve worked with that photographer before, or how they work with photographers generally—both will be trying to capture the same moments!

How much should we tip our wedding videographer?

A good tip ranges anywhere from $50 to $100—perhaps even more if they brought an assistant. If you’re using a larger company, the tip may be included in your contract or fees. Uncertain whether to budget in a tip? You can always wait until you receive your final video, then send a gift or a tip as thanks.
