Hello! We're so glad you will be helping us celebrate our union. Each of the ten pieces here are "group gifts" and meant to be collaborative. When we look at this collection in our home, we will think of all of you. We hope the explanations written for each piece help you to learn even more about us and our story. Thank you so much for your meaningful contribution.

Untitled, by Sam Francis, 1994
Group gift
An early LA memory together is admiring Sam Francis's Basel Mural I alone on an oddly quiet afternoon at the Norton Simon Museum. It's a rare luxury because of how popular the artist is, but bringing this piece home would allow us to enjoy his work all the time.

"Corporal Benedikt & Grand Duke Victor" by Denis Noyer
Purchased
We like this piece for its unexpected universality. It delivers a familiar expression in a whimsical package. There is contrast, balance, and special playfulness here -- everything a good relationship needs.

"Acapulco Beach Scene" by Dong Kingman, Watercolor, 1968
Purchased
Dong Kingman is one of our favorite artists, and watercolor is one of Wendy's favorite mediums. We would love to have one of his original pieces in our home and hope guests will take some time to learn about this Chinese American artist whose works can be found in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the deYoung Museum and the Art Institute, Chicago.
"Acapulco Beach Scene" by Dong Kingman, Watercolor, 1968

"Caffe Reggio" by Stephen Magsig
Purchased
Stephen Magsig's work reminds us of how still New York feels when you're falling in love in the city. Many of the weekends we spent there in the beginning of our relationship are remembered just like this.
"Caffe Reggio" by Stephen Magsig
$200
"Grapes with Two Pears & Red Cup" by Randall Mooers
Purchased
Randall Mooers's approach to his work is aspirational -- it is both playful and serious. We like the domesticity of this piece because of what it reveals. There will be chaos, but look how beautiful chaos can be.
"Grapes with Two Pears & Red Cup" by Randall Mooers
$2,000
"Black Tie" Limited Edition Framed Print by Giancarlo Impiglia
Purchased
Sometimes it can be difficult to find art for an Asian-American home. Many beautiful portraits and photographs focus on subjects who obviously don't belong to us, but on the other hand, "Asian" art is often too ethnic. We were pleasantly surprised to find some likeness in this piece. It even reflects the blue theme of our wedding.

"Red Cavalry" Print by Kasimir Malevich
Purchased
Not meant to be a political statement -- we were just drawn to the striped foreground and to how large the world is compared to the riders. It's a piece that is more beautiful when taken in as a whole. There's a metaphor in there somewhere.
"Red Cavalry" Print by Kasimir Malevich
$360.00
"Typhoon Shelter" Print by Dong Kingman, 1961
Purchased
This Kingman print may be a reproduction, but the vibrancy of the scene brings it to life. We each had separate experiences in Hong Kong and hope to return there together one day.
"Typhoon Shelter" Print by Dong Kingman, 1961
$120.00
"Fanelli" by Stephen Magsig
Purchased
Stephen Magsig's work reminds us of how still New York feels when you're falling in love in the city. Many of the weekends we spent there in the beginning of our relationship are remembered just like this.
"Fanelli" by Stephen Magsig

"View of Washington, D.C." Print by Dong Kingman, 1970s
Purchased
Another Dong Kingman print -- this one showing beautiful use of the California Watercolor technique of allowing the white paper to show through and take on its own character. We first became FB official in D.C., and it remains one of our favorite cities stateside.
