Adopta Una Familia works with the community of Guasmo Sur in Guayaquil, Ecuador to develop educational and health care programming. Calla has been working with this organization since 2008, and it was the foundation of her lifelong drive to develop human rights in Latin America. Black and African American women in the US are 3-4 times more likely than white women to experience a pregnancy-related death. That's insane! It's 2025! The Black Mamas Matter Alliance is a wonderful organization that brings together advocacy groups, medical professionals, and human rights practitioners to advance Black maternal healthcare in the US. Native and Indigenous women are 3.5 times more likely to be victimized by violent crime than white, Latina, and/or Asian women in the US and Canada, and those incidents of violence are much less likely to be investigated and prosecuted than those involving white women in the US. A donation to the National Indigenous Women's Center helps fund wonderful programming in violence prevention, victim advocacy, and investigations into MMIW.
