From Tokyo, we will want to travel to Osaka to experience the food and Kyoto to visit the famous Bamboo forest. The easiest way to get there is by bullet train, which connect all the major cities in Japan. Buying two 7-day passes will get us where we need to go at the best prices.

One of Leah's dreams is to eat sushi in Japan. We hear the sushi is even good in the grocery stores of Japan!

Kaiseki is a traditional multi-course Japanese dinner. Modern Kaiseki includes an appetizer, sashimi, a simmered dish, a grilled dish, and a steamed course, in addition to other inventive culinary delights at the discretion of the chef. We saw this on on a show called Mind of a Chef and knew we had to try it!

Unfortunately, our fur babies can't go to Japan with us, so we will have to put them in a kennel during our 2-week adventure. At least they will have each other :)

This is our dream honeymoon location! Neither of us has ever even traveled to Asia, so this will be a big milestone trip for us. We can't wait to see the Buddhist Temples, taste the cuisine, and experience the Japanese culture. Our ideal time of year to visit would be the springtime during the cherry blossom season.

Japan's rich history of martial arts and fighting truly inspires Joshua in his Jiu Jitsu training. We think it would be thrilling to see Sumo in the country where it was born. Maybe Joshua will get in the ring! haha

Osaka is a Japanese foodie's dream. We need to spend a few days there to immerse ourselves in great cuisine. Staying in a funky boutique hotel would be the icing on the cake! :)

A Japanese onsen is a hot spring bath. They are everywhere and are often run as part of a ryokan (bed and breakfast). We can't wait to relax in one of these!

Ramen and Yakitori are some of our favorite Japanese foods. We plan to try as much of it as we can while we're in Japan! Our aim is to find the best ramen and yakitori in the land!

We have a eyes set on a 9-hour full-day Kyoto sightseeing tour. The tour includes Nijo Castle, the ornate gardens of Kinkakuji Temple, the Kiyomizu Temple and the Kyoto Imperial Palace, once home to the Imperial family. We will also see the Heian Shrine and the Thousand Armed Kannon at Sanju-Sangendo Hall.

A definitive feature of an izakaya is that it serves food that compliments the drinks.
