Ryan and Hallie want to make a tradition of local romantic outings together at different restaurants in the Bay Area. If there's somewhere in particular, you think that we should go, please let us know and we'll use your contribution to go there.

Ryan and Hallie are hoping to do a long road trip around Japan for part of our honeymoon experience. Ryan and Hallie both love Japan, but have never been able to travel there together. Hallie is excited to show Ryan some of her favorite spots, and see some of Ryan's.

Hallie and Ryan are excited to explore Japan and want to stay in truly unique spots. Pictured is "Dogo Onsen", the oldest hot spring in Japan. Hallie is excited to share her favorite hot spring with Ryan, and for the two of them to stay in a unique "Ryokan" (Japanese B&Bs) or in other honeymoon suites and Airbnbs on their journey.

A goshuin is a book that contains stamps gathered by visiting shrines or temples in Japan and is a cool souvenir that includes the date of the visit and beautiful calligraphy. As you visit a temple, you bring your goshuin, you provide a donation to the temple, and a monk makes a special calligraphy in your book.Hallie and Ryan are excited to buy a special goshuin for their honeymoon and collect the "stamps" at various temples that they travel to together as a nice honeymoon memory.

Ryan and Hallie are looking forward to eating their way through Japan. They are excited to have sushi, of course! As well as to enjoy some of their favorites - Hallie is looking forward to hand crafted tempura, curry udon, and bento boxes for the high speed train. Ryan's pretty much ready to eat anything, as long as Hallie is there! If there's something in particular that you want us to eat or try, let us know.

Hallie and Ryan will NOT be driving in the big cities on their trip. Even though Hallie has experience driving in New York City :-), she's not going to try that on the other side of the road. Tokyo has 285(!) train stations, so they'll be using the subway or other metros. Pictured is the Yamanote-sen which makes a big circle in Tokyo and is Hallie's personal favorite metro in Japan.

Hallie and Ryan have their favorite spots in Japan, and are excited to see even more. Pictured is from the Ghibli Museum, which Hallie loves, nearly every time she has been in recent years to Japan she’s gotten to see a new Ghibli pop-up. Ryan doesn’t have a favorite yet, but he is excited to visit some martial arts dojos.

Ryan taught Hallie you can buy just about anything on Craigslist, including chickens. Together, Hallie and Ryan have adopted 5 (yes, five!) pets. They have 1 cat, Muffin, and 4 hens - Rex, Babs, Lemon and Marbles. Keelie takes great care of them while Hallie and Ryan are gone and this helps ensure that Keelie can visit twice a day and play with their furry and feathered friends. Going to the movies in Japan is not like going in the US, theaters are absolutely gorgeous and it is one of Hallie’s favorite activities, most recently, she saw an Avengers movie in Japan.

Hallie is trying to convince Ryan to go to Antarctica, but likely, this will be a cruise together to Latin America for Ryan to practice his Spanish. He's been studying a lot in Duolingo during the pandemic. Recently, he surprised Hallie by making churros! (The churros turned out more like pancakes, but they have a whole lifetime together to practice).

Ryan and Hallie are excited to travel to hot springs together and various other spas while in Japan. Bathing culture is a big part of Japanese culture and is one of Ryan's favorite things to do in Japan. Hallie is excited to hopefully visit some famous hot springs that she has never been to.

One of Hallie and Ryan’s first dates was to an arcade when he was living in Sebastopol. It was nothing like the big arcades in Japan, but they had a lot of fun. Hallie does (surprisingly) well at crane games, and is excited to try a Taiko game like this one at an arcade while in Shibuya.

Ryan and Hallie's First Date was to a concert, the band CAKE for New Years in San Jose. They love listening to music together. While they have been to concerts separately in Japan, they would love to go together.
