Playing frisbee in college has been one of the most uplifting and affirming experiences I have had throughout my years. Each year I’ve played on Element has brought its unique challenges and joys, but I can honestly say that nothing in my past four years of ultimate frisbee has been as special as qualifying for nationals this year! I am so excited to get to play another month with this team, but going to nationals is also extremely expensive. This is my fourth year on Element and second year as a captain. Element has been a huge part of my life and has given me the chance to be part of a great community of teammates and friends. Making nationals was our big goal this year, and I’m incredibly proud of us for qualifying. This will be the first nationals for the majority of the team and while there are a lot of financial barriers, we are determined to do everything we can to make the trip as accessible as possible. Element has become a family for me at UW. Here, I have made friends that will forever be a part of my life. They are the most hard-working, hilarious, and supportive group of women I’ve met and I’m so proud to be able to call them my teammates. We laugh together, cry together, and grind together. Element has been my anchor for the entirety of my college experience. When I go to practice, all of my worries or stresses melt away and all I care about is grinding with my teammates through drills and scrimmages. I'm immensely proud of how far our program has come in terms of skill and growth and I'm ecstatic to finally have earned a spot at nationals. Playing ultimate frisbee has become a way for me to feel more confident as a competitive athlete. I want to go to Nationals to finish out my last year playing with UW Element, and continue growing as a player. Six months ago, I had no idea how to even properly throw a frisbee, let alone see myself on an ultimate team. But with college, comes new experiences and luckily I’ve been blessed enough to gain a family of 27 hardworking, passionate, gritty individuals who I get to call my teammates. Being a member on Element has been one of the best things that has ever happened to me and I’m stoked that I get another month full of practices, dance parties, and laughs with this group of girls. This is my first year I officially get to be part of a college frisbee team and I have been very grateful to be able to spend it with these bunch of lovely weirdos. I have immense love and respect for this team and now we get the opportunity to dance, sing and play together another month! This is my first year on Element, and from the start I knew that this team has the most dedicated, talented, and supportive group of athletes I have ever seen. No matter what I know these women will have each other’s backs both on and off the field, and that is part of what make us so special. I began to play ultimate because basketball became a financial burden for my family. The southend ultimate community helped me develop as a player and made the sport affordable. College ultimate continues to help me grow and provide support for me on and off the field. I am excited for the opportunity to travel and play with some of the best college players in the nation but our team needs support to get every player there. Element is a family who pushes each other to become better people, athletes, and students. I am incredibly lucky to be a part of this amazing team! We have learned and grown so much, and will be attending the National Championships to cap off the season! This is my fourth and final year on Element. I have seen rookies come and seniors graduate, and this team is incredibly special. I get up early on the weekends for this team and stay up late on weeknights to grind with this team, push each other, and grow together. With such a physical and mental accomplishment, we still face the financial barriers that come along with this achievement. This is such a special team and I have so much love for everyone involved in this program. We love to push each other and grow together. This is the first time Element has qualified for Nationals in 4 years and it truly thanks to all the hard work we have put in this season, and all the support of the friends of family of this program. Empowerment is embodied by the women of this team, and there is nothing greater than having the opportunity to grind with these minties for another month. Element has not only introduced me to the power of ultimate, but has also granted me with my Elefam: a family that continuously grinds through gritty points, pushes through unthinkable 20s, and dances hysterically to idiotic songs. But an additional month means additional fees, and that’s where our loving community can step in and help. For me, Element is a community, stress-reliever, and a character building opportunity all in one. I can rely on my teammates on and off the field and that is something not all college students get. Joining this team has made me regain my competitive nature and desire to become a better athlete, and I would love to have your support in competing on the national stage! <3

We couldn't as successful as we are without support from both Mariel and Carla. Their love and dedication have helped us get where we are. USA Ultimate has added several fees for screenings they have to pass to be on our sideline at Nationals, and we are asking for some help offsetting these costs.

Flying to tournaments can be a large financial barrier to playing competitive ultimate. This year we have committed to giving significant financial aid for flights. Contributing to this fund would help support the financial aid that we provide towards players flights.
