Richard Diebenkorn (April 22, 1922 – March 30, 1993) was a American painter who was instrumental to the development of the Bay Area Figurative Movement. He developed his own style of abstract expressionism which He grew up in the Bay Area and graduated from both Stanford and UC Berkeley. After serving in the US Marine Corp during WWII, he enrolled at the California School of Fine Arts to study abstract painting, where he later became faculty. He also taught at UCLA. His influences included Henri Matisse, Clifford Style, Willem de Kooning, and Edward Hopper. His Ocean Park Series earned him worldwide acclaim. Diebenkorn is Annie's favorite painter and this book would be cherished in our home!
