15 hours back and forth with Ali who hates to fly... good luck Tim! We leave for South Africa on December 19th and return to NYC on January 2nd. Our first stop is Cape Town! WTF? Who talked us into this. So scary but so exciting. Take a scenic drive to Gansbaai and enjoy a bite to eat before braving the waters with Great White Sharks at Dyer Island and Geyser Rock. Take an early morning scenic drive to Gansbaai; breakfast at White Shark Projects Lodge where the dive master gives a full briefing about the day's procedures; anchoring at Dyer Island and Geyser Rock, which boasts a large Cape Fur seal colony; watching the crew lure the sharks with chum to the boat; lowering the cage into the water when the first shark arrives; picnic lunch on board the boat and soup served upon return. Table Mountain is the most iconic landmark of South Africa. It is also the country’s most photographed attraction and its famous cable car took millions of people to its top.

Wine country here we come! Savor classic Bobotie, chicken pie and frikkadel served with traditional side dishes. Tuck into your brown paper bag at the oldest shop in town, Oom Samie se Winkel.

Home to more than 140 wine farms, Stellenbosch, also known as the Eikestad (City of Oaks in Afrikaans ) is the second oldest town in South Africa. Stellenbosch and it's winelands boasts the largest concentration and variety of wine farms and wine tasting venues in the country and together form the wine making, research and viticultural hub of South Africa

Safari time!

Instead of going on the early morning game drive, you will be driven to meet with the Kapama elephant herd. Before your ride, trained elephant handlers will show you exactly how to get onto the saddle on the elephant’s back and how to follow its rhythmic strides as you move silently through the bush. Each elephant has a handler who will guide his charge on the walk. Since elephants are the largest land animals in Africa, other animals quickly give way to them in the wild and, at the same time, provide excellent game sightings and natural interaction. Kapama’s elephants are all so relaxed that they will likely stop to graze as they walk. After an hour’s ride through the reserve, the herd will return to their elephant boma so you can alight safely.

Victoria Falls and Zambezi National Parks are situated on the western tip of Zimbabwe. The Falls, known by the local Kololo tribe as Mosi oa Tunya- The Smoke that thunders, is one of the "Seven Wonders of the World" and one of the largest and most spectacular waterfalls on earth. The falls are just over a mile wide and nearly 145 million gallons of water cascade 230 to 350 feet into the chasm below -every minute- during the Zambezi River's peak flow. Victoria Falls is made of five different "falls". Four of these are in Zimbabwe: The Devil's Cataract, Main Falls, Rainbow Falls and Horseshoe Falls -and one, The Eastern Cataract, is in the bordering country of Zambia.

Set high on a natural plateau, the westward facing Victoria Falls Safari Lodge borders the Zambezi National Park & is just over 2 miles from the thundering Victoria Falls. Enjoy uninterrupted views of spectacular African sunsets and year round game at its on-site waterhole.

Two hour tour Victoria Falls is a truly awe-inspiring experience – the sight, the sound, the smell; the humbling feeling that here indeed is Nature's Supreme Masterpiece. No photograph can begin to depict the reality…and nothing prepares you for your first sight. Your guide will take you past the 'Big Tree' where you’ll want to stop and take photos. You’ll be accompanied through the Rainforest by one of our qualified Guides who will give a brief history of the Falls themselves as well as detailing the flora, fauna, bird & wildlife and other points of interest. Guides are also happy to assist with photographs while visiting this most spectacular of waterfalls. Raincoats/ponchos are provided when needed.

A famous feature at Victoria Falls is the naturally formed "Armchair" (now sometimes called "Devil's Pool"), near the edge of the falls on Livingstone Island on the Zambian side. When the river flow is at a certain level, usually between September and December, a rock barrier forms an eddy with minimal current, allowing adventurous swimmers to splash around in relative safety a few feet from the point where the water cascades over the falls.

Our last activity of 2015! 2 x 2 hour cruise The Zambezi River cruise is a superb way to relax and enjoy the beauty of the River. Clients may have the opportunity to see a variety of game; including hippo, crocodile and elephant in their home environment, as well as enjoy the many different bird species. The Sunset cruise is very popular and includes finger snacks, beer, wine, local spirits and soft drinks. There are great photo opportunities against often-spectacular African sunsets.
