Before we even think about trekking up to Machu Picchu we figured we should own things like - well, hiking boots. And probably a sleeping bag. And maybe a hiking backpack.

Cusco & the Hidden Valley
Purchased
Before heading out on our trek to Machu Picchu, we're stopping in the city of Cusco. Once the ancient capital of the Inca Empire (named Qusqu), it's filled with rich culture, unique architecture, and a fascinating history. We'll then spend a day traveling through the Sacred Valley, with a stop at a women's weaving co-op before exploring the Pisac ruins. Later in the day, we'll feast at the Parwa community restaurant in Huchuy Qosco, while finishing the day exploring the Ollantaytambo ruins with a local guide.

Fifty percent of our planet lives on less than $2/day. For the price of a coffee, you can help make every day of our trip count by giving back to the communities we will visit through Planeterra. The Planeterra Foundation is a non profit organization, founded by G Adventures, that supports local communities through social, environmental, small business, and emergency relief projects around the world. We help provide sustainable solutions to the places you love to visit.
