Before we even think about trekking up to Machu Picchu we figured we should own things like - well, hiking boots. And probably a sleeping bag. And maybe a hiking backpack.

Through G Adventures, a socially responsible tour company, we'll begin our travel adventure by climbing the ancient Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, reaching heights of over 13,000 feet! We'll then head out to the Amazon Jungle where we'll camp out with local Peruvians (and wildlife!).

After 12 days of trekking through mountains and jungle, we're heading over to Puerto Rico where we plan to spend the last few days of our trip relaxing (and resting our sore muscles).

The key to any adventure - getting there!

Before heading out on our trek to Machu Picchu, we're stopping in the city of Cusco. Once the ancient capital of the Inca Empire (named Qusqu), it's filled with rich culture, unique architecture, and a fascinating history. We'll then spend a day traveling through the Sacred Valley, with a stop at a women's weaving co-op before exploring the Pisac ruins. Later in the day, we'll feast at the Parwa community restaurant in Huchuy Qosco, while finishing the day exploring the Ollantaytambo ruins with a local guide.
