Jamz Events

5.0

Washington, DC
  • DJ
  • Starts at $1,600

I've spent the past 15+ years offering my musical knowledge to events all over the world. That experience translates to DJing weddings and events so seamlessly, from being able to read crowds and deliver exactly what you and your guests want, to managing logistics from the DJ booth in an effortless manner. Whether you want a folk-laden cocktail hour, a classic dinner playlist, or a modern dance party, let me be the one to provide the soundtrack to the most important day of your life!

Awarded Best of Zola
Our original DJ had a family emergency and I reached out to Jeremy one week before our wedding. He was somehow available which was the greatest miracle of our wedding. We were so stressed and he immediately calmed us down and ended the call with "let's have a wedding!" Given the timing, we didn't have time for another call before the day. He had a comprehensive questionnaire that covered every situation we wanted a specific song for (including our cake cutting song) so another call was not needed and he did everything perfectly. He is extremely adaptable and stepped in so many times without needing to be asked (helping corral people for pictures). He followed every song we wanted (and didn't want), but also was able to nail the vibe when given vague directions (chill love songs during our cocktail hour). The best part was when we opened up the dance floor, my Fitbit logged me as doing "sport" for 2 hours straight at one point and I did over 10,000 steps just from dancing. He kept people dancing and people loved it, my wife and I both had multiple people tell us our wedding was the one of the best they had been to BECAUSE of the DJ. My favorite part was he genuinely loves what he does, you could see the joy on his face when he made a great transition between songs and that energy was infectious. I would highly recommend him to anyone. He is extremely organized, professional, and fun. Jeremy, thank you for making our wedding unforgettable!

Cesario Mendez Photography

5.0

Washington, DC
  • Photographer
  • Photojournalistic style

When I am not behind the camera or editing photos, I enjoy short Uber rides to bottomless brunch on the weekends; right now mimosas and I kinda have a thing going on! I have a special relationship with bourbon and FIRMLY believe in putting food on the grill during late afternoons should be the norm. I am blessed to be married to the happiest person on earth (I am so serious), who just happens to double as my favorite person. She keeps me grounded and never fails to remind me how great she is.

Awarded Best of Zola
We highly recommend Cesario’s services as a photographer. Our wedding was an intimate party of ten people. He arrived early with potential shot locations already in mind and was conscious of how to best utilize the evening lighting conditions. Cesario was great at giving clear directions and set up shots with excellent vision. He was fun and professional in all aspects of photographing the ceremony and reception. His turn-around time for the photos exceeded expectations and we are thrilled with the final product.

We loved working with Sarah at poppy flowers. Honestly, flowers were not a priority for us so it helped that Sarah did all of the heavy lifting for us! We had one meeting with her and didn’t have to worry about anything else. And the flowers were absolutely stunning. They matched our preferences to a tee!! My only problem is I did not get my flowers in time for my family portraits. But I sure if that is the fault of the florist or the coordinator! Overall, would definitely recommend

Working with Mary was unbelievably wonderful. She is delightful and creative. The flowers were BEYOND anything I could have ever imagined and they transformed the space. Mary's small touches and attention to detail were so special. I loved it. When I talked with Mary, I expressed how I wanted vintage oyster cans as the centerpieces but they were cost prohibitive. However, she suggested I make my own design and create them - and so I did. She filled them with beautiful plants and it was my favorite touch of the whole wedding. Lastly - I did not choose to have a bouquet. However, Mary created both a boutonniere and bouquet and left them with a lovely note, that was so thoughtful. I felt so special. I actually didn't know about those until the next morning, so it was like a new surprise even though the event ended - I had something that felt magical again. It was really nice.

Lisa Lee Florals

5.0

Washington, DC
  • Florist
  • Starts at $5,000

Founded by Lisa Lee after leaving a decade-long career in digital marketing to pursue her dream in floral design, she hopes to inspire others with the same love she has for florals. You can expect to find dreamy, nature-inspired designs.

Awarded Best of Zola
I didn't expect my compliments on the florals - they always seemed like something that was for the bride, not the guests - but I got so many compliments and inquiries about Lisa's work in the weeks following my wedding! She delivered exactly what I asked for - bright, summery flowers that brought the outside indoors for our July wedding. During planning, she was quick to respond to our emails, thorough in her presentation, and clear in her discussion of costs, particularly when I would send along a picture and say "what about adding this?" She was great to work with. Before I walked down the aisle, my mom, who had been pushing for DIY florals, came up to me and said "You were right. Lisa was the right choice. 100% worth it." Just what every daughter wants to hear at the end of several months of planning!

Chris Ferenzi Photography

Washington, DC

  • Starts at $3,600

Hey, I'm Chris! Dog-lover, latte-lover, gym-lover, and cookie-lover I justify the cookies by going to the gym. One of my life goals is to have enough dogs (dachshunds and corgis) to create a sled team. I will use this sled team to pull myself around while shooting your wedding. I’m joking, unless you really want me to, in which maybe WE should get married.

Awarded Best of Zola
The minute my fiancée and I found Chris (via a wedding photog friend who was unavailable for our date) I told him that I was a former wedding vendor myself, I know how the sausage gets made, and I just wanted him to be real with me. He totally got that and took it to heart. He went above and beyond to help us sort out another photog for part of our wedding experience when some of our plans had to change and I really appreciated his communication throughout the process. He made it fun and was easy to work with, was amenable to capturing my preferred "good side" and ending up sending us some truly amazing photos. I'm not the world's most photogenic person, and he did such a great job of sorting through snaps of (what I assume were) hundreds of double chins and closed eyes - he sent us a set of final photos in which I felt like I looked pretty in every single one and our joy just really shines through. 10 out of 10, would hire again!

District Winery ended up being the only venue we toured. My goal as a bride was to have to worry about as little as possible and from the start of our communication we loved how much District Winery had to offer (I am not a type A person so this was great!) They were extremely organized in their planning, the food was delicious, and our guests are still raving about the day! We got to fully enjoy our wedding day knowing we were taken care of. Our vendors even mentioned how well they were treated which was so nice to hear. DW truly exceeded our expectations. For couples who want an almost all inclusive venue DW is a great choice.

Kelton from Marquee Artists was amazing! He was a communicative and active participant in the planning of the music and the announcements at my wedding on March 9. Kelton provided an extensive list of potential songs to play in a shared Google Document with columns for “play” and “do not play” which was great. Also, I was impressed that he attended the walk through of the Whittemore House a month prior to the wedding, asking pertinent questions of the Whittemore staff about the placement of various things and how best to provide the sound amplification that would be needed. He provided wireless mics which worked really well for the toasts. Kelton did a great job as the master of ceremony and his mix of the selected music was fun and fabulous. He had the crowd dancing, rocking to the music. Many of the older folks told me that they hadn’t danced in years but were having lots of fun doing so then. Having him on our wedding team instilled so much confidence in me, my daughter and new son-in-law, who is an amateur DJ. They were so taken by Kelton that, if possible, they would like to attend future events at which Kelton is the DJ!! I HIGHLY recommend him.

The "Original" Moonlighters ®

3.7

Washington, DC
  • Band or Ensemble
  • Starts at $2,000

Since 1990, The Moonlighters ® have been performing throughout the U.S. as one of the country’s best-loved and most authentic Motown and variety dance bands, covering all your Jazz/Blues/Oldies/Motown/Soul/Disco/Funk/Classic Rock/Pop favorites! Just close your eyes and you’ll swear the original artists are performing. But don’t close them for too long or you won’t be able to enjoy their outstanding dance moves and showmanship.

We're quite saddened by their google review, posted even before we had a chance to actually speak with them to clear up several serious inaccuracies. Our band has HUNDREDS of positive online reviews/satisfied wedding clients. And we'll always accept valid criticism. But this one is mostly false and unfair. As Zola does not provide the option for responding to negative reviews, the following are our comments: 1. Since the bride and groom hadn't hired a wedding planner everything was extremely disorganized as we received their timeline just one week prior to the event, but then they changed it twice more, including two days before. Despite asking for our bandleader's phone #, the groom never reached out to discuss any of these details. In other words, we were given minimal direction in regard to all of the last-minute changes. Even on the wedding day itself, our band was asked to set and reset their equipment multiple times because the bride and groom disagreed with the onsite coordinator's floor plan, moving/resetting the bride and groom table as well! 2. According to what the photographer told us, the bride and groom's limo driver was over 90 min. late, shifting the entire timeline and putting them in a bad mood from the very beginning, as noticed by our bandleader at around 5:15pm when he first introduced himself, prior to the band providing either live or recorded music. 3. Regarding the recorded music, it was only lacking for approx. 45 min. as the band discovered the phone battery issue at approx. 7:45pm, during their first break, quickly rectifying the situation by putting the phone on a charger and then continuing with the recorded music outside from approx. 8-10pm. Furthermore, they made up for it by keeping their system running for an extra 30 min., beyond our contracted time of 11pm. And those comments regarding the afterparty are also totally untrue as somebody from the band was manning the system, until a cousin of the bride or groom demanded that he use her playlist instead, and then she responded angrily when he finally turned off the system at 11:30pm. 4. As for the band's sound system, we do acknowledge some 'hum' issues as there was just one electrical outlet provided for the entire band, resulting in 'dirty power' which couldn't be fully corrected. And we deeply regret mispronouncing the various names as most were very unfamiliar and of Indian origin, despite our lining up the wedding party in advance and writing everything down phonetically. 5. Even though some of the client's emails mentioned solo keys during cocktails, we provided a duo, covering an extra 30 min. of recorded music from 4:30-5pm at no extra charge, as requested. While it's standard practice for a band to take a dinner break during an almost six hr. event, this was clearly-specified in our contract as well. And then we performed continuously from 8:30-10pm, including most of the requested songs that we had prepared well in advance. So their comments about seemingly just 'walking off a bus' are completely false and misleading. In other words, our musicians went 'above and beyond' in spite of some very challenging circumstances. 6. Fortunately, we did receive a 'happy reaction' with a crowded dance floor and TONS of compliments from the guests, some requesting pictures w/the band too, while even the bride and groom were singing along and dancing non-stop, which we were VERY happy to see, making their negative review even more surprising though!

I highly recommend Artistry by Marquita! My wedding makeup, created by Marquita, was absolutely beautiful but didn't turn me into someone unrecognizable. During the trial run, the hair stylist, Mona, took my vague description of "Game of Thrones but maybe a bit Jane Austen?" and gave me a gorgeous braided updo. On the wedding day, Marquita and Mona arrived on time and finished hair and makeup for me and the ladies in our wedding party (who also looked fabulous) with time to spare. They were kind, responsive, and collaborative throughout. It was great to work with both of them and I recommend them wholeheartedly.

The best way to tell honest stories is through keen observation. How do I know? Because I spent 15 years as a journalist before becoming a wedding photographer. By paying attention to the ways you interact with your loved ones, I capture the in-between moments that will, one day, be significant. And using a trained eye and subtle approach, I do so unobtrusively.

Natasha gave us more than just photographs, she gave us an exhilarating experience. She took us on a beautiful dance in and out of crowds through Union Station. Capturing the essence of our joy once my wife and I placed eyes on each other for our first look. Then taking us to Union Market to bring us and our friends together, capturing tender moments of joy and laughter. And finally, our wedding, where singing, dancing and love was reflected in every photo of not only my wife and I, but also those that were there to celebrate with us.

Growing up in rural Virginia my intro to photography came to me at 14 while breaking into abandoned houses with friends to take photos that can only be describe in retrospection as “experimental”. Fast forward a handful of years and I found myself going 'legit' and holding a BFA in photography, later finding yet more perspective and cutting my teeth shooting society events in NYC. Having now spent more years of my life taking photos than not, it’s safe to say that I’m all in.

Cassidy has an amazing report when working with clients and the staff on weddings. We have absolutely had the best experiences from the booking process, through to the ease of the day of the wedding. Always being great at transitioning the clients, bringing smiles to their faces and then producing beautiful imagery. We have loved working with Cassidy for the last 8 years and know that he bring professionalism, a unique perspective, and humor to ever wedding day.

On your Wedding Day and we want your personality to shine through in all of your wedding photos. You're going to have the best day ever and we'll be there to photograph every laugh, tear, and moment you wish you could remember forever! Our couples come from every walk of life and we love that they know they can be who they are with us! Comfort is key when it comes to choosing your Wedding Photographer because we're capturing your memories on the biggest days of your life. On the day of your wedding, you’ll say "I do", blink and it’ll be over. It's ok though! You’ll sleep easy knowing you'll always be able to look back at your Wedding Day in bright, beautiful color when you receive your wedding photos in about 4-6 weeks.

Nicole and Jose of Bokeh Lane Photography are simply wonderful! So energetic and creative! They shot our engagement session and are slated to shoot our wedding whenever COVID allows for that. We wanted a photographer that has a great eye for candid shots and heard about these two from a friend who had their engagement and wedding shot by them. My friend’s pictures were beautiful, so I reached out to Nicole and Jose. They helped us with every step of the process, even with picking out outfits before the shoot. They’re kind and professional and just so easy to work with. I am not used to being in front of the camera, whereas my fiance is a natural in front of the camera. I told them that up front and they made sure to make me feel comfortable while just letting my fiance be himself, and the pictures came out so great! They are highly responsive as far as communication goes and prices are extremely reasonable for such high quality work. Highly highly recommend!

The Lauren Louise Collective

5.0

Washington, DC

  • Starts at $7,500

I was born and raised in a quiet seaside town on the South Shore of Long Island. I grew up in a place where good, strong love grows with parents who have been together since they were 16 years old. They taught me that true love grows in the face of hardship and, as strong believers in their faith, that love is, indeed, patient and kind. And so as soon as I realized that wedding photography didn’t have to be posed and mechanical; that I could shoot weddings from a more organic and authentic lens; that I could document a story, not direct one, I was hooked!

Having a good photographer was one of my priorities for my wedding. I knew the day was going to be a whirlwind and I wanted to be able to look back and at least have one photo where my eyes weren’t closed or something. Lauren absolutely delivered — I don’t think we’ve ever looked as good in pictures and I know I probably won’t again!! Lauren also recommended Elizabeth for our day-of coordinator and I don’t know what we would have done without her — I definitely would have lost my mind, of that I’m sure. First, I can’t overstate the importance of finding a photographer with whom you have a good rapport — Lauren has this charisma where you instantly feel at ease and like you’ve known her your whole life. It frankly made me less nervous and I think that translates really well in the photos. She’s also a master of making you look the best in posed photos - giving little positioning directions that you look elegant without looking stiff. Every time I look at the pictures I’ll notice another candid moment that Lauren managed to capture or simply marvel at how she somehow can translate emotion in a still picture — I find myself smiling and definitely not crying (jk definitely crying) because you can FEEL what we were feeling in these photos. Second, get you a planner who is superhuman. Elizabeth took over six weeks (!) before the wedding and it was like a literal weight was lifted from my shoulders. At our first meeting she went through her checklist (and mine bc of course I had my own) and said “I’ll take care of it” to literally everything... and then...did?? I was fully prepared to have to follow up with vendors and micromanage but I basically didn’t have to do anything. It was magical. Elizabeth and her team did so much work and went above and beyond in literally every way to ensure we had a perfect day. Anyway, if you’re struggling with choosing a photographer because there are 72525 million to choose from, and you like the style of Lauren’s photos, go for it ASAP. Lauren is incredible and I feel so lucky that we were able to work with her. And if you need a day-of coordinator (or a full blown wedding planner!) pick Elizabeth - she has the eye for design and the capability to pull it off and pull it off well!

I cannot even express how happy we are to have booked Harrison Films for our wedding!! Before finding them, I was really hesitant about getting a videographer and debated if it was worth the money, but eventually decided we wanted a video to remember the day. After looking at a bunch of their example videos of other weddings on their website, I had a FaceTime call with Deanna and instantly knew I wanted to hire them. From the start Deanna and Grant were incredibly nice, easy to work with, and helpful. Before the wedding day, we went over the schedule and Deanna even created a google doc of the timeline for the entire day that I ended up using to share with all my vendors (photographer, band, etc). On the wedding day, they did an amazing job taking care of everything. They arrived early, helped keep us on schedule so that I never had to worry about the time, and ensured it was an easy, non-stressful day! We wanted to do our first look at the Jefferson memorial because that’s where we got engaged. Little did we know, it was under an insane amount of construction. Somehow, Grant and Deanna found the perfect spots for us to still have our first look and other pictures at the memorial while avoiding all the construction. They stayed the entire night and captured everything and we never had to worry about our time running out with them. Our wedding was Saturday night and by Monday morning they had already sent us a one minute preview video and it is beyond anything I imagined. The full edit was sent a couple months later and it is the most perfect, incredible video I have ever seen. Our wedding was 10 months ago and I watch the wedding video at least once a month. Hiring them was the best wedding decision I made and they are worth every single penny. Even before seeing the preview, on the day of my wedding I was so grateful to have them there and said multiple times to my husband how happy I was to have hired them because they made the day so much easier. If you are going to have a videographer (and trust me, you should) hire Harrison Films!!

Hi! I'm Katie, an East Coast & Destination Wedding Photographer, based in Washington D.C. After taking a high-school photography class–it quickly became clear that I loved the art of photography. Soon after graduating, I was offered an internship position near Chicago that allowed me to continue to dive into the world of studio lighting, image editing, and commercial photography; continuing to hone on the technical skills that often get left behind when you have the digital screen to instantly see your work. A few years later, I photographed a friends wedding and it became crystal clear that this was exactly what I wanted to pursue.

Oh my goodness! Kate Grace is the best wedding photographer in the game. I am SO glad we snagged her to photograph our wedding. Throughout the entire process from booking to engagement shoot to COVID-19 wedding planning - Kate was there for us each step of the way. On my wedding day I was barely stressed because I knew Kate would capture every moment perfectly. She took every shot (and then some!!!) on my shot list and delivered THE MOST BEAUTIFUL gallery. Kate even worked with our videographer and sent them pictures for our wedding video. Kate is INCREDIBLE. Hire her. You WILL NOT regret it. As long as we are in the DC area, Kate is our photographer.

Hi - I'm Danielle. A wife. A mom to three wonderful children. A wedding photographer. I've been shooting weddings since 2010. 300++ weddings and counting. I love working with natural light, real moments, and images with energy and emotion. I would love the privilege of hearing your love story. If you'd like to inquire, please email or call to set up an interview.!

We booked Danielle for our engagement session and April 2024 wedding. Me and my husband aren't confident in front of the camera and at our engagement session, Danielle made us feel so comfortable. At that moment, we knew we made the right choice for our wedding day! Danielle was an integral part of our planning process - happily scheduling calls as needed to help us develop our timeline, narrow down locations for photos, and even providing us with a detailed timeline and checklists of things to bring for photos. On our wedding day, Danielle ensured that we remained on schedule with our timeline, capturing all the photos that we wanted and needed in a short timeframe. She made an effort to learn the names of our wedding party and family and provided everyone with guidance and feedback in a fun and engaging manner to make sure every photo turned out great! We recently got our sneak peeks back and were so thrilled with how they turned out. We're looking forward to seeing our full gallery soon! Danielle also provided a second shooter at no additional cost to us and he was absolutely fantastic as well! Chris handled getting ready photos of my husband and his groomsmen, making sure they stuck to the timeline, and getting them to where they needed to be - the hardest job of all. He was great to work with and captured beautiful images from different perspectives and angles that we wouldn't have gotten with just one photographer.

Homemade comforting treats, Grandma’s way. Sweetdele's Sweet Treats makes those traditional desserts you can't find anymore - the kind that’s nostalgic from the good ole days. Deborah grew up cooking with the matriarchs of the family, and now shares those Caribbean rum cakes, Lemon pound, and Brown Sugar pound cakes.

I used SweetDele’s for an anniversary party and Deborah did an amazing job! Her desserts were soo good and she was such a joy to work with and to top it off her presentation of decor for the dessert table was beyond perfect!

You can find me drinking coffee, lifting weights, or hanging with our cats on any given day. I love people and I love working with people. Photography and art have been part of my life for over a decade and working with you to create your vision is what brings me the most joy. Reach out to say hello, ask about AGP, and talk about your big day.

Anne documented our wedding day and we cannot say enough good things about her. Through the whole process, from engagement to the big day, she made us feel so comfortable, heard, seen, and supported. Her communication is spectacular and timely and the quality of the photos is an 11 out of 10. Not to mention that our wedding was less than a week ago and we already have an album of GORGEOUS teaser photos! We can't wait to see the rest from the big day because we know that she and her second shooter captured so many special moments during the event. Thanks to Anne for capturing us and our joy so completely. And, if you are looking for someone kind, caring, and talented - look no further! Anne's the one.

Hi there, I'm Rudney Novaes — And I’ve been intrigued by photography since I was a boy. In youth I discovered a fascination with film when my Father left behind a vintage camera. I was amazed by the mechanics of the time-worn device, in awe of its capability to freeze moments in time. Today, I’m an editorial and wedding photographer capturing stories filled with feeling, and my love of light and film continues to shape my craft. I’m passionate about sharing the knowledge I’ve chased since childhood with aspiring creatives and seasoned professionals alike, and I believe wholeheartedly that there’s always more to learn from one another.

I knew I wanted Rudney to be my wedding photographer before I even had a date or venue. It was love at first sight with his work, and he never disappointed. Rudney was so easy to work with, he is flexible, dedicated, open to your ideas while also giving suggestions to make sure everything turns out perfect. The day of the wedding was effortless, I did not have to worry about what my photographer was doing because I trusted and was confident in Rudney's ability to deliver what I envisioned. His team of professionals were also the best! I will forever treasure my wedding photos, they came out so beautiful and perfectly captured my amazing day. Rudney's work is exquisite, he is truly a master in his art!

I specialize in Wedding, Engagement, Maternity and Marketing Sessions while also spending time getting to know you by the smile on your face, and sparkle in your eyes, creating digital footprints that will last forever & ever! Photography was invited into my life simply because reading a book under a tree shade, or sitting cozy by the fire with my Great Danes, always ended in a great photo that truly spoke to me! As a Christ Follower, I am blessed to share the gifts God has given me and use them to bless others!

I always knew that I wanted to work with Kristie when it came time for my wedding day because of a previous photo shoot I had with her for marketing purposes. Kristie was fun, personal, professional and most importantly she was an expert when it came to instructing my husband and I on how to pose for the camera to look our best. We could not have dreamed of a better photographer. She even referred us to an amazing videographer. We are so grateful to have had Kristie as one of our wedding vendors and highly recommend her to anyone getting married in the DC, MD or VA area.

Electrifying, riveting, simply on fire! These are just a few quotes from reviews of Nightsong, one of the hottest and most well-respected dance bands in the country. With past and present satisfied clients such as the International Monetary Fund, The NFL, Marriott Intl., Frito Lay, The Preakness (to name a few), and countless weddings/private events in the DC/Baltimore area and beyond, Nightsong has become the "go-to" for clients and event planners seeking high energy, world-class musicianship, and a level of professionalism that puts events "over the top!

Nightsong made our wedding absolutely perfect! In a call with the band leader, Bennett (who is the nicest person ever), I gave the direction that I want to party all night and give our guests a reason to not sit down. Boy, did Nightsong deliver!! 3 days later and my calves still hurt from dancing so much, and we have the best pictures of the dance floor being PACKED the entire night. The singers were amazing and the guitarist was unreal (he even did a guitar solo at the end that everyone was raving about). I even have some friends getting married end of next year who may be booking because they loved the band so much!! Cannot recommend them enough- seriously, just book them, you will be thankful you did.
